Original research EVOLUTION OF INDUSTRIAL POLICY AND TECHNOLOGICAL ABSORPTION FOR INNOVATION IN CHILE: ANALYSIS OF THE PERIOD 1990-2022Pages 41-54
Abstract:
This article provides a comprehensive analysis of industrial and technological absorption policy in Chile between 1990 and 2022, highlighting a paradigm and institutional shift in the promotion of innovation. Despite important advances in sectors such as mining, salmon, fruit farming and, more recently, green hydrogen, the country still faces the challenge of consolidating a more inclusive and diversified economic development model.
The research highlights the fundamental role of the state in Chile's industrial and technological development, supported by institutions such as CORFO and ANID. The key factors driving this incremental progress include macroeconomic stability, infrastructure investment, increased funding for R&D, and policies aimed at fostering innovation. However, to enhance the effectiveness of the industrial strategy and address challenges related to regional inequality and technological absorption, a more adaptive and sustained approach is needed to fully capitalize on the opportunities offered by the country's resources and capabilities.
